F1 Engine Manufacturers to Discuss Rule Changes
News out today that Mercedes, Ferrari, Honda and Renault are to meet this week with the FIA to discuss possible major changes to Formula One’s current engine rules. The overall aim of the talks is to encourage more parity between teams by breaking up the inherent advantages the top teams presently enjoy. Honda, Ferrari and Renault in particular are pushing for greater loosening of rules, possibly to allow in-season changes to engine settings. Rosberg had started on pole position ahead of his teammate, but was forced to abandon after suffering a throttle problem. From there Hamilton coasted to the win, with a gap of 5.9 seconds separating him from runner-up Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari. Sergio Perez of Force India took the remaining spot on the podium. Logano earned his fourth victory of the season and put the pressure on drivers like Matt Kenseth and Kyle Busch, who will have to perform at Kansas and Talladega over the next two weeks if they hope to join him in round three of the Chase. Toro Rosso cars previously drove with Ferrari motors from 2007 to 2013. The agreement for 2016 would likely see the team’s cars run with 2015 Ferrari engines.
